  • The return of the bomb

    Hello all, it's been a week exactly since I went on my break. The vacation was good. Most of you probably didn't notice I was gone, but "thank you" for all of you who did notice and made inquiries. Also, thank you for putting up with my petulant temper -- I tend to get overwhelmed by trivialities easily.





    Reason.

    I hold the firm belief that everything, every action, has a reason behind it. We eat because we are hungry. We are hungry because our body needs food to survive. We need to survive to continue our species. Etcetera, etcetera.

    Even a madman who acts seemingly without reason has a reason for doing what he does, though the reasoning may be alien and likely forever unknown to us.




    This week I've had a lot of chances to think about reason. What is the reason behind the way I act? What are the reasons behind my actions themselves?

    Blogging.

    A good example, known and familiar to all of us, is blogging. Last week, I was in such a rage because of the way people were reacting [or lack of reaction] to my work that I was ready to leave the blogging community altogether. And for what reason? Because I wasn't getting the response and understanding that I wanted?

    Throughout this week, I've discovered reasons to continue that are much greater than those listed in the previous posts that made me want to cease my online existence.

    Why I blog


    1. I love to write.
    2. I think it's funny to tell people that I'm popular on the internet. aka "e-popular".
    3. Lots of people see my thoughts.
    4. Sometimes I have something important and thought provoking to say, and it's nice to know that there are people out there who will hear it.
    5. Sometimes I have something funny and interesting to say, and it's nice to know that there are people out there who will hear it.
    6. I like to make fun of stupid and ignorant people in a public forum.
    7. I like the attention.
    8. I love to write.
    And... last of all, the NUMBER one reason that I blog is: I love to write. Ever since I stopped blogging, I haven't stopped writing, just not for others to see... But through this, I've come to realize that I love writing for an audience. I feel that it helps me push the envelope on my creativity. I also feel happy when I get the one or two or sometimes many responses that make me think, "Wow, that person really understood what I was trying to say."

    So, unless some idiot discovers a way to make me lose my love for writing, I will continue on my quest of insightfulness and intrigue for your amusement and my own.

  • i've always known the main reason why you love to blog is just for the pure writing.  i hope this time around you don't get caught up in the craze and you just let the writing be your main focus

    p.s. my main reason for writing is because i get to get my mind working in ways i never thought i could

  • My reason is to spew out my thoughts for others to read...although most of the time when I really  want to tell my thoughts...my blogging becomes extremely biased because I write for the enjoyment of others and I take caution in what I write in case if my blogging affects someone negatively.

    I also believe that there is a reason behind everything, even when we feel like we do something out of impulse...the force that made that impulse is from something deep down inside of us that we desire.

  • Welcome back!  I'm glad that you've come full circle to why, I believe, you originally started blogging - you love to write, and it's fun to write for an audience.  I think you're a great writer, I enjoy reading your entries very much, and I think you're a great writer.  Keep it up!

    There are two reasons I have a xanga site.  First, I'm bored and it keeps me busy.  Second, it keeps me on my toes, and helps me stay on top of what's going on out there.

    There's also the subfactor of me being an attention whore, but we don't need to go there.

  • Woo hoo!! You're back!  That was a lllllooonnnngggg week.

    Well I started with xanga at first was because I had nothing better to do and it was a great way to waste time.  But as time progressed, I found that writing allowed me to bitch and vent about my life...so it's great therapy.  And of course, I'm an attention whore too.

  • I started Xanga because I had always kept a journal in high school...but couldn't seem to keep it up anymore. Xanga was different because it helped me be accountable (with people commenting and wondering where I went if I didn't blog). I like it. And sometimes I feel like I need to take a break as well.

  • Welcome back!  I must say I am very disapointed that you only give 9(I'm counting the repeats) reasons for blogging, there's always 10, lol.  I'm not a big time blogger, I don't get online too much and when it is I don't think to write in xanga.  I have a creative writing class though that lets me write about anything i please, among the occasional topics givin, that's how i express myself.  Though I may not be into the kind of attention recieved by posting on the internet I still can see where your coming from and have a need to right just the same. 

    My reason for everything is to keep sane...i eat so I don't go insane from starvation, same with talking, i need to talk to people...if i never wrote I wouldn't vent my frustration or share my sadness or happiness since that is my only way to express myself.

    Again, welcome back..id have to say i missed reading your thoughts and philosophy on things while you were gone, I don't think there is anyone quite like you and its awesome...look forward to your posts to come

  • i always believe there's a reason behind everything we do, whether the motive can be understood or not is another thing. originally, i wrote on xanga so i can go back in the future and read about the stuff that i may or may not have forgotten. then, people started to comment on my xanga and i was sucked into the world of writing to get comments because i felt "unpopular" if no one commented. eventually i got out of that phase and am now in a phase where i write to inform people about my life, my thinking, and basically whatever i find interesting (oh, also wishing people happy birthdays when i can't see them).

    hope you get better soon, coughing sucks.

  • The love of writing, or rather the love you have for writing. And the very few people who say, 'Oh man, I totally understand/agree with what she is saying.' But I bet you write for yourself more than anything else =D

    P.S. Lately my xanga has just been a way to communicate with a certain individual.
