  • Easiest potluck/party food item ever + baby shower stuff

I recently hosted a baby shower for a friend, and just thought I'd share these,  since they're super simple and they always get rave reviews.

I discovered the greatness of these from friend a long time ago. :)

    Simple sandwich:

Ham, mayo, garlic salt, fresh ground black pepper

Put together, then cut in 1/4 triangles

Spear 1/4 of a tomato slice and cucumber on top.

I like to cut the cucumbers with mini cookie cutters to add a little flair. =]

You can store these in the fridge for a few hours -- they're really
great cold on a hot summer day -- =} Its the cucumber that does it.

[for more vibrant color, you can use cucumber as the bottom color and carrots as your top color]

Below are some pictures of the decorations I came up with [executed with the help of some very patient friends] .  The theme was pajama party everyone came out in their pajamas and had a jolly old time. All decorations [including flowers, utensils, balloons, diaper cake... there was even a garland made from baby clothes :( but we didn't get a pic of that]  totaled under 60 dollars

  • Anime Expo

Went to Anime Expo again this year..  :)   I'd have to say this was one of the best times I've had an anime convention with the exception of perhaps the first one I went to (Fanime, '96) -- which was so long ago, I barely remember it anyway.

It really goes to show that it doesn't really matter how old your are, you can still bring out your inner child and have some good-old-fashioned-fun with your friends.

I had 3 costumes for the 3 different days... Here are some highlights:

    Friday: Kimono

Saturday: School Rumble's Tsukamoto Tenma --
the guys were tentacle monsters hence the tentacles -- more pictures of that below

Sunday:  Azumanga Daioh crew: I was Osaka, Mich was Tomo and Brent was the perv teacher.

We were so popular on sunday that we couldn't walk 20 steps as a group without getting a picture taken of us.. Here's a hint of what it was like:

Here we are at the Robotech and Gundam seminar (two different seminars in the same room)
Michelle is Rukia from Bleach here

As promised, here's a shot of the guys as tentacles -- Brent's the orange tentacles coming in from the side.

    Other cool stuff:

    Domokun

    Hot goku

    Grr

    Wiimote

  • Another Kimono-inspired hoodie

It looks a bit big on me because it is.   I made this for a craft swap partner on craftster.org! :)   Yay...

Despite the black, and the fact that its a hoodie, since I used rather light fabric for this, it's actually perfect for a summer jacket! <3

I'm considering making one for myself now.

  • Kimono hoodie tutorial

Hey guys! Thanks to the great response, here is a tutorial on how to make your very own kimono hoodie.

This tutorial is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 License.

Meaning, make as many as you want and edit it however you want as long as you don't try to make money off of it. Smiley

I rate this at an advanced beginner level.  The only "difficult" thing here is  attaching the zipper.  The construction is only 3 basic shapes.

    Enjoy. :)

ATTENTION, a piece of the tutorial was incorrect, here is the fix:

  • Kimono inspired hooodie

Here I go again, with my craft love :)   YAY!  I made my first-ever top.

So, I have this thing, where i love the look of yukata [summer kimonos], and i love the look of obis, but i never have any real occasion in which i can wear it in an every day situation.

With that in mind, I tried to design a hoodie that captured the feeling of the colorful kimono prints, basic kimono construction, yet have something i could wear to the mall [or some public place] as well.

    Construction:

The front wraps around and zippers down the side.

The jacket opens all the way up in the front, like a kimono..

I <3 huge hoods.  Also, i like the way the white hood pieces serve as a highlight for the neck line.

The obligatory artsy pose.. Here's what it looks like when I actually wear it.

    The back

And me just being stupid, trying to act cute for teh boyfriend.  Did I mention I'm 24 years old? :)

Ahh, let me know what you think, I want to make another one with this same type of theme in mind with slight mods, let me know if you have any ideas for upgrades!! [I was thinking a corset-obi, maybe? so i can tighten the middle area?]

  • Im alive!

Ha, reading my last few entries I realized that I ended on a pretty bad note.  As it is, I'm alive, but i'm very happy that episode of my life is over.  I was a mess for about a week... and im still to this day unsure as to why.

Anyhow, in other news... I got a hamster! Yay.  Here are the obligatory pictures.

Her name is hamuhamu no caps no space.  She is retardedly fast.  Like a ninja.  Or a cheetah... So taking a clear picture of her is close to impossible.

    I hope you enjoy.

  • The porcelain throne

As I laid my head down defeated on my bathroom floor, all of the contents in my entire body purged, I thought, what did I do to get to this place?

Usually this only happens as payment for something like drugs or alcohol, and yet, i haven't touched either in months.

Luckily things seem to be looking up.

  • My anus is bleeding!

Thanks a lot to all of you who told me to go to the doctor -- all that it resulted in was an inconclusive test [i have to get an xray] and two cold jellied fingers in my rectum.

Of course I kept freaking out whenever her fingers got close to me, so in the end she just slammed them into my anus as soon as I stood still.

"Think of your favorite things!" she said, soothingly.

Ugh, my sphincter is still throbbing.

    Pleasant as always.

    Kim.

  • Kidney stone

    So... I think I have a kidney stone.. .. ..

    Yeah.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?  ... Brent thinks I should go to the hospital/doctor. :<

    What are my other options??
