Is it better to be...
A really smart person that everyone thinks is an idiot?
Or an idiot everyone thinks is really smart?
My kneejerk reaction would be to say the first one -- that i'd rather
be smart regardless .. But I think that would depress me too much,
knowing that everyone around me thinks i'm an idiot. At the same
time, I guess I also wouldn't want to live with the fear of my
stupidity being "found out".
In other news, I went to the zoo a little while back and just recently
uploaded the pictures. =] Click above image to check out some really

the first one. its like being caucasian and knowing how to speak chinese. you go to a chinese restaurant and all the waiters talk trash in chinese, not knowing you understand. then when it comes time to order, you order in chinese. ah, sen sei. wax on, wax off.
I would rather be reasonably intelligent and not care who else is smaller/stupider...nothing like the middle!

Exactly the same for me, too. I would have picked the first time, but what only one person thinks doesn't really matter in the long run if no one else will buy it. So the second one for me.

I can understand a really smart person being able to make all kinds of people(dumb,normal, smart) think he/she is an idiot...but how does an idiot make those people think that he/she is smart? You've gotta be brain dead to have an idiot get one over on you.

i agree with your knee-jerk reaction. being smart is much better than being stupid. no matter what people think of you. Galileo was persecuted, tortured, and killed for believing in something no one else did...or had the courage to publicize. But there is much more pride in doing something honestly and through the production of your intelligence, rather than pretending to be smart or living a lie.
how is it possible to be an idiot, and have everyone think you're smart? the only chances of that happening is if you are hanging people that are more idiotic than you, and they think you're brilliant. because that is my case.
obviously the first one...because that is what i am...and it really works out for me. because when people realize i actually a lot smarter than they think, they feel retarded and i think it's funny.

It is always best to let everyone around you think they are smarter than you. People like people who they are just a little bit smarter than. You move ahead in life faster that way.
Idiot that thinks everyone is smart (as long as you don't get jealous/paranoid). It keeps you humble. Plus, you're bound to get shown up one day if you think you're the know it all. Happens to me all the time.

If you're for fame and fortune right now (in terms of your life) then you're probably going to pick #1.
If you're someone who's wants to know, has a thirst for knowledge, and doesn't 'care' for their image in society, then you're going to be pick #2.

id go with option one, probably how people view me anyway, and it does feel depressing know people think youre an idiot, but screw them, you're money and they dont even know it
